EasyPHP is an application that you install on your Windows computer which you can use as a development system for PHP \/ Apache and mySQL databases.<\/p>\n
It can be downloaded form http:\/\/www.easyphp.org\/ and I find it a very good way to develop applications using PHP on my Windows computer.<\/p>\n
EasyPHP contains a single exectuable which when run, installs PHP, Apache web server and a mySQL database onto your Windows computer. All
\nvery neat an convenient to use.<\/p>\n
However, when I tried to install on Windows 7 I came across a number of issues with Apache and with mySQL.<\/p>\n
When I launched the software, Apache wouldn\u2019t start. Here is the error :<\/p>\n
Apache cannot run: another Web server is using the Web port or port is blocked by firewall.<\/p>\n
To overcome this issue :<\/p>\n
1. Click the EasyPHP icon beside the \u201cApache\u201d button.
\n 2. Click \u201cConfigure\u201d then click \u201cEasyPHP\u201c.
\n 3. Uncheck \u201cCheck server\u2019s TCP port before starting\u201d then click \u201cApply\u201d button and then \u201cClose\u201d button.
\n 4. Click \u201cApache\u201d button and then click \u201cStart\u201c.<\/p>\n
That fixes the \u201cApache cannot run\u2026\u201d problem.<\/p>\n
The above gets the Apache server to work but after I closed EasyPHP and ran it again, I got this second error message :<\/p>\n
Unexpected end of MySql… See log file?<\/p>\n
This is a mySQL error message and is actually a file permission problem. <\/p>\n
So I changed the user permission for the EasyPHP directory and mySQL correctly started. <\/p>\n
To set your permissions this is what you do :<\/p>\n
1. Open and view Drive C using the windows explorer, then double click \u201cProgram Files” assuming that you installed EasyPHP in that folder.
\n 2. Right click on the folder where you installed EasyPHP then click \u201cProperties\u201c.
\n 3. On \u201cSecurity\u201d tab click \u201cEdit\u2026\u201d button.
\n 4. Select the user that you are currently using. This will probably be something like “Users (computer name)”
\n 5. Under \u201cPermissions for Users\u201d box, tick \u201cFull control\u201d on \u201cAllow\u201d column.
\n 6. And then click \u201cOK\u201d button to apply the changes.<\/p>\n
Now you should be able to start mySQL server by clicking \u201cmySQL\u201d button on EasyPHP dialog and then click \u201cStart\u201c. Or shut down EasyPHP and restart it again.<\/p>\n
