XML Configuration

This section describes how to submit the xml site map to those search engines that presently support the standard.

Google

To use automatic submissions of urls to Google using XML site map:

Go to

http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/

and create an account or login if you already have an account.

  • Add a new site.
  • Verify the site by adding a verify code to your home page.
  • Add a General Web site map identifying its url location at the root of your site.
  • In thesitemapper, create a new site with ftp to the root of your site and run it and check the xml file is ftp to the root.
  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, click on the 'Set up Ping URLs ...' button and make sure that the google ping check box is ticked.
  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, tick the 'Automatically FTP site maps when complete' check box and tick the 'Notify (ping) search URLs on completion' check box.
  • When thesitemapper has finished crawling the site it will create the xml site map, upload the file to your web server and then ping Google. You should see the results of the ping in the Google site map administration page.

The ping url for Google is :

Yahoo

To use automatic submissions of urls to Yahoo using XML site map:

Go to

http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/feeds

and either create a new Yahoo account if you don't have one, or enter your Yahoo ID and password.

  • In site map home, add you site.
  • Authenticate the site by clicking on the 'Authenticate' button and following the instructions.
  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, click on the 'Set up Ping URLs ...' button and make sure that the yahoo ping check box is ticked.
  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, tick the 'Automatically FTP site maps when complete' check box and tick the 'Notify (ping) search URLs on completion' check box.
  • When thesitemapper has finished crawling the site it will create the xml site map, upload the file to your web server and then ping Yahoo. You should see the results of the ping in the Yahoo site map administration page.

The ping url for Yahoo is :

Microsoft Live Search

To use automatic submissions of urls to Microsoft Live Search using XML site map:

Go to

http://webmaster.live.com/

and either create a new account or login if you already have an account.

  • Add a web site by entering the details.
  • Authenticate the site using the method that you have chosen.
  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, click on the 'Set up Ping URLs ...' button and make sure that the Live Search check box is ticked.
  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, tick the 'Automatically FTP site maps when complete' check box and tick the 'Notify (ping) search URLs on completion' check box.
  • When thesitemapper has finished crawling the site it will create the xml site map, upload the file to your web server and then ping Live Search.

The ping url for Live Search is :

http://webmaster.live.com/ping.aspx?siteMap=

Ask

To use automatic submissions of urls to Ask using XML site map:

  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, click on the 'Set up Ping URLs ...' button and make sure that the Ask check box is ticked.
  • In thesitemapper 'FTP Settings' tag, tick the 'Automatically FTP site maps when complete' check box and tick the 'Notify (ping) search URLs on completion' check box.
  • When thesitemapper has finished crawling the site it will create the xml site map, upload the file to your web server and then ping Ask.

The ping url for Live Search is :

http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=
