The sitemapper is capable of generating site map files with any file extension that you wish. So your site map may be called sitemap.htm or sitemap.php, or sitemap.asp for example.
To define the output file type of the site maps, just enter the file name in the Crawl Settings tab. So if you want multiple a-z pages and enter sitemap.php, you will generate a series of files called sitemap_a.php, sitemap_b.php, sitemap_c.php and so on.
This means that you can create a template file with some in-built scripting which has some code for page last updated for example. Whenever the site maps are generated each page will have a last updated entry in the footer.
